Alternative tourism
Community-based trail, heritage and agritourism operators building a season that lasts longer than August.
Where we work
Coastal and inland regions — sustainable tourism and manufacturing.
The programme
From Tunis, the fund works along the coast and, deliberately, inland — in the governorates where a single processing unit or a single trail operator changes what a village earns in a season.
Two things get most of the attention: alternative tourism that keeps its revenue in the region it happens in, and light manufacturers who are one certification away from selling into Europe. Both are patient work, and both are why the Tunisian windows carry business development alongside the grant rather than after it.
Priorities
Set by the country team, from what businesses here are actually blocked on.
Community-based trail, heritage and agritourism operators building a season that lasts longer than August.
Light industry closing the gap between what it can make and what an EU buyer will accept.
Deliberate weighting towards businesses outside the coastal corridor, where capital is scarcest.
Funding
For tourism microbusinesses in Jordan and Tunisia digitising booking, marketing or the guest experience.
First capital for early-stage founders in Palestine, Jordan and Tunisia with a validated idea and a first customer in sight.
Certification and export-readiness support for light manufacturers in all three countries targeting EU and regional markets.
Portfolio
Tunisia
A community-based operator in Tunisia’s north-west built a trail season that runs beyond the summer — and pays nine guides from the villages it crosses.
